Abstract:

In this study, it is aimed to reveal the perceptions and tendencies of individuals living in the Atakum district of Samsun province towards recreation areas. In this direction, a survey was conducted in June-July 2021 with 401 participants who were determined by the appropriate/accidental sampling method by applying the screening model, one of the quantitative research methods. As a result, it has been concluded that the people of Atakum prefer walking on the coastline as a recreational activity in their own districts, there is a lack of information about different recreation areas in their districts, and they have an interest and tendency towards alternative recreation areas. It is predicted that there will be a significant increase in recreational activities as a result of revealing this potential and making it available to the public in Atakum, which has many alternatives as recreation areas.
