The "code blue" is a tool of emergency management through which patients are to be resuscitated as soon as possible when heart and respiratory arrest occurs.Code blue is the sole colored code used internationally for the same purpose in emergency cases. The objective of this study was to emphasize the significance, effectiveness and safety of the code blue intervention and to present the problems and the proposals of solutions related to the outcomes.The study was conducted by means of a retrospective (2013 and 2014) review of the code blue incident reports in Hatay Antakya State Hospital, a 477-bedded hospital . In the years 2013 and 2014 a total of 222 code blue events,110 male and 112 female were. The average age of the patients subjected to code blue i ntervention was 70,3 years.Regarding the occurrence of the code blue interventions in our hospital the most frequent place was the internal medicine ward (68/222),% 31),the most frequent period was 10-11 a.m.(20/222-% 9) and the average time to intervene was 1minutes 33 seconds.As the result of code blue interventions, 127 (57,2%) patients were dead, 86 (38,7%) patients were taken into the intensive care unit, 5 (2,3%) patients were referred to a university hospital and 4 (1,8%) patients were to be treated in his own ward.
