Ekonomik büyüme dünya genelinde ülkelerin makroekonomik hedefleri arasında yer almaktadır. Ekonomik büyümenin beraberinde istihdam artışını da getirmesi beklenmektedir. Ancak özellikle son zamanlarda yapılan çalışmalar ekonomik büyüme ve istihdam arasındaki ilişkinin beklendiği şekilde gerçekleşmediğini göstermektedir. Çalışmada Türkiye’de istihdam ve ekonomik büyüme arasındaki ilişki, istihdam oluşturmayan büyümenin geçerliliği çerçevesinde araştırılmıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda genel ekonomik büyüme ve istihdam değişkenlerinin yanında; hizmet, sanayi, inşaat ve tarım sektörlerine yönelik 2005 yılının ilk çeyreği ile 2020 yılının 3. Çeyreği arası dönemi kapsayan ekonomik büyüme ve istihdam verileri Granger Nedensellik Testi yardımıyla analiz edilmiştir. Çalışmada ulaşılan sonuçlara göre; Türkiye ekonomisi genel olarak değerlendirildiğinde istihdam oluşturmayan büyümenin geçerli olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. İstihdam oluşturmayan büyümenin sektörel geçerliliğine yönelik kurulan modellerin sonucuna göre ise, ilgili sektörlerden sadece sanayi sektöründe istihdam oluşturmayan büyümenin geçersiz olduğu, diğer sektörler olan hizmet, inşaat ve tarım sektöründe ise istihdam oluşturmayan büyümenin geçerli olduğu sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
Economic growth is among the macroeconomic targets of countries around the world. It is expected that economic growth will bring employment increase along with it. However, recent studies show that the relationship between economic growth and employment does not occur as expected. In the study, the relationship between employment and economic growth in Turkey was investigated within the framework of the validity of non-employment growth. For this purpose, besides the general economic growth and employment variables; The economic growth and employment data for the service, industry, construction and agriculture sectors covering the period between the first quarter of 2005 and the third quarter of 2020 were analyzed with the help of the Granger Causality Test. According to the results obtained in the study; When the Turkish economy is evaluated in general, it is concluded that the growth that does not create employment is valid. According to the results of the models established for the sectoral validity of the growth that does not create employment, it is concluded that only the growth that does not create employment in the industry sector is invalid, and that the growth that does not create employment is valid in the other sectors, namely service, construction and agriculture.
