Abstract:

In the study to identify adult-child relationships in cartoons, a documentary analysis design was used. In order to identify the cartoons to be studied in the study, the ranking list was first reached via the internet. Then the works that reflect adult-child relationships have been reviewed according to the ranking order and in this direction three cartoons have been chosen to be studied. The cartoons in the list are King Joker, Gumball and Powerpuff Girls respectively. In this direction, the cartoons were subjected to content analysis before the visual analysis. The study that studies adult-child relationships in the most watched cartoons shows that relationships in foreign productions are highlighted with interests, uncertainty, selfishness characteristics; the elements of confidence, love, honesty are highlighted in the indigenous productions; in all the fiction studies the conclusion is that one-typization between adult and child characters is made.
