ABSTRACT Neurofibromatosis is a multisystemic and genetically inherited disease. Two types are defined; Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF 1) and Neurofibromatosis type 2 (NF2). NF 1 is characterized by neurofibromas and café au lait spots. Central nervous system, airways, lung parenchyma and thorax might be affected. Because of the multysistemic influence, anesthetic management requires special care in this group. Neurofibromas may obstruct the upper airways and close the spinal needle puncture during regional anesthesia. Here, we want to present our anesthetic management to a male patient with haematuria due to hypertrophy of prostate gland.
Neurophibromatosis is a genetic and multisystemic disease. There are two forms of neurophibromatosis type 1 (NF1) and neurophibromatosis type 2 (NF2). NF1 is characterized by common neurophibromes and caffe au lait spots. It can maintain the central nervous system, the airways, the lung parankimi and the chest. This group of patients are characterized by anesthesia due to multisithemic attitude. Neurophibromes can lock the upper airways and close the spinal injection hole during regional anesthesia. Here we wanted to present our anesthetic approach to a male patient with benign prostate hypertrophy with hematuria. ABSTRACT Neurofibromatosis is a multisystemic and genetically inherited disease.
