Bu çalışma Coğrafya Dersi Öğretim Programı’nda yer alan çevre ve toplum ünitesinin medyada yer alma durumunu incelemek amacıyla hazırlanmıştır. Çalışmada nitel yöntemlerden yararlanılmıştır. Çalışmaya kaynak olan veriler doküman incelemesi yoluyla toplanmış olup veriler betimsel analize tabi tutulmuştur. Yapılan analizler tablo ve grafik haline getirilmiş ve yorumlanmıştır. Çalışma kapsamında 2019 yılında günlük yayın yapan beş ulusal gazete 15 gün, aylık yayın yapan dört popüler bilim dergisi 3 ay, haftalık yayın yapan bir popüler bilim dergisi 3 hafta, izlenme oranı yüksek beş televizyon kanalı 5 gün, tıklanma oranı yüksek beş internet haber sitesi 10 gün boyunca incelenmiştir. Bu inceleme sonucunda çevre ve toplum ünitesine dair konuların medyada yeterince yer bulamadığı görülmüştür. Topluma kolaylıkla erişebilen önemli bir araç olduğundan dolayı medya, gün geçtikçe artan küresel iklim değişikliği ve çevre sorunlarına yeterli önemi vermesi halinde, çevresel bilinç oluşturmada önemli rol oynayacaktır. Haber ve bilimsel metinlerin coğrafya öğretiminde kullanılması bilgide kalıcılığı ve ilgi çekiciliği sağlayarak eğitimi kaliteli hale getirecektir.
This study was prepared for the purpose of studying the status of the environment and community unit included in the Geography Course Teaching Program. The methods were used in the study. The data that came from the study was collected through the document review and the data was submitted to visual analysis. The analyses were made into table and graphics and interpreted. The study included five national newspapers that published daily in 2019 for 15 days, four popular science magazines that published monthly for 3 months, a popular science magazine that published weekly for 3 weeks, a high view rate for five television channels for 5 days, a high click rate for five internet news sites for 10 days. This study found that the issues related to the environment and community units found no enough space in the media. As it is an important tool that can be easily accessed to society, the media will play an important role in creating environmental awareness if it gives sufficient importance to the ever-growing global climate change and environmental issues. The use of news and scientific texts in geography teaching will make the education of quality by providing the durability and attractiveness of information.
This study has been prepared in order to examine the partaking of the environment and society unit of the Geography Lesson Curriculum in the media. The methods used in the study were qualitative. The data source of the study was collected through document review and the data were subjected to descriptive analysis. Analyzes made have been tabularized and interpreted. Within the scope of the study, in 2019, five national newspapers that broadcast daily were examined for 15 days; four popular science journals publishing monthly, for 3 months; a popular science journal publishing weekly, for 3 weeks; five television channels with high view rate 5 days and five internet news sites with high click rates for 10 days. As a result of this examination, it has been observed that the issues related to the environment and society unit couldn’t take place in the media enough. As it is an important tool that can easily reach the society, the media will play a significant role in raising environmental awareness if it gives sufficient importance to the increasing global climate change and environmental problems. The use of news and scientific texts in geography teaching will ensure the quality of education by providing permanence and interest in information.
