Abstract:

Abstract The article considers the life experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transvestite, transsexual and transgender immigrants who live in Brazil, more specifically, in the city of São Paulo. The focus is on communicational dynamics and their relation to the exercise of citizenship by these immigrants. For this, we take as empirical object their own experiences, accessed through autobiographical narratives. We present and analyze here the reports of a North American lesbian woman and a Finnish transgender woman. As far as methodology, the article is based on semi-structured interviews and on French discourse analysis (ADF). The main points of discussion are discrimination, precariousness and violence against lesbian, gay, bisexual, transvestite, transgender and transgender people in our country, the (in)visibilities present in the migration process and the citizenship issues.
