Abstract:

The relationship between journalism and technology is always active and continuous. The transition from traditional media to digital media influences journalism, news production processes, broadcasting, and audience preferences. The winds of change in digital, virtual reality, Metaverse, and 360-degree imaging with drones and glasses observing the virtual world are enabling journalism to evolve. The most important addition to the verbal and visual interaction process brought by the digital world is the inclusion of body interaction in virtual reality. In this article, situation analysis is made about the experiences of journalism in virtual reality with a descriptive approach. It is concluded that the techniques used by the journalists such as virtual reality, their access to news sources, and their immersion in news presentation create an opportunity to turn to new roles and quests, but it is still in the early stages in terms of investments to be made in the field and journalism.
