Abstract:

The sociology of knowledge, as a methodology of history of thought, can be defined as a theoretical discipline which transforms the effects of thought products on the shaping of the social and political structure through a social science perspective, into the subject of scientific research, by addressing the effects of them through a social science perspective, thus providing a rich background reading for social and history of political thought research. In Turkey, Şerif Mardin is the head of social scientists who first benefited from the aforementioned background reading. This study includes an evaluation of Mardin's perspective of sociology of knowledge, which deals with social and political processes through the history of thought and analysis of thought. The study is based on document analysis as a data analysis method. The aim of the study is to try to create an explanatory framework for Mardin's perspective of sociology of knowledge by explaining the methodology of sociology of knowledge. Therefore, the study seeks answers to the questions of what the discipline of sociology of knowledge corresponds, the background of Mardin's knowledge sociology perspective and what it includes, to what extent this background contributes to the analysis of Mardin's history of thoughts in Turkey.
