İslam medeniyeti çerçevesinde Orta Asya Türk dilinin Karahanlı, Harezm ve Çağatay Türkçesi olmak üzere üç döneme ayrıldığı kabul edilmektedir. Üçüncü ve son dönem olan Çağatay Türkçesi XV. yüzyıldan XX. yüzyıla kadar Orta Asya’da ortak edebî dil olarak varlığını sürdürmüştür. Bu yüzyıllar arasında Çağatay Türkçesi ile manzum ve mensur birçok eser kaleme alınmıştır. Bu dönem eserlerinde çeviri eserler olduğu gibi telif eserler de bulunmaktadır. Dönemin eserleri incelendiğinde manzum eserlerin sayılarının mensur eserlere göre daha fazla olduğu görülmektedir. Ayrıca manzum olarak yazılmış tarih kitaplarının yanında mensur olarak yazılmış olanlara da rastlanmaktadır. Bu makalenin konusunu oluşturan ve Hicri 1301 (Miladi 1883-1884) yılında yazılmış olan İslam Tarihi adlı eser mensur olarak yazılmış tarih kitaplarından biridir. Makalede devam etmekte olan doktora tezinde ele alınarak incelenen Millî Kütüphane Yazma Eserler Bölümü Yz. A 2245 numarada kayıtlı ve katalog kaydında adı “İslam Tarihi” dili “Çağatay Türkçesi” olarak belirtilen eser ele alınmıştır. Eserin müellifi veya müstensihi bilinmemektedir. Makalenin giriş kısmında Çağatay edebiyatı alanında yazılan tarih kitapları hakkında genel bir bilgi verilmiştir. “İslam Tarihi” adlı eserin Çağatay edebiyatında bulunduğu yer tespit edilmiştir. Daha sonra Eserin Tavsifi adlı bölümde esere dair bilgiler ayrıntılı bir biçimde yer almaktadır. Ardından “İslam Tarihi” adlı eserin yazılış amacı, konusundan bahsedilmekte ve eserin bölüm başlıkları sırasıyla verilmektedir. Yine aynı eserin şekil bilgisi ve ses bilgisi özellikleri örnekleriyle incelenmiştir.
In the framework of the Islamic civilization it is recognized that the Turkish language of Central Asia is divided into three periods: Karahanlı, Harezm and Çağatay Turkish. Within the framework of Islamic civilization, the Central Asian Turkish language is accepted to be divided into three periods: Karakhanid, Khwarezm, and Chagatai Turkish. Chagatai Turkish, the third and the last period, existed as a common literary language in Central Asia between the 15th and 20th centuries. Many poetic and prose works were written in Chagatai Turkish between these centuries. The works of this period include translated works as well as copyrighted works. When these works are examined, it is seen that the number of poetic works is higher than the prose works. In addition to the history books written in poetic during this period, there are also those written in prose. The work entitled History of Islam, which is the subject of this article and was written in 1301 Hijri (1883-1884), is one of the history books written in prose. This article addresses the work that is documented in the National Library Manuscripts Department No A 2245, catalogued with the title of "History of Islam" and the language of "Chagatai Turkish", which is examined in the ongoing dissertation work. The author or copyist of the work is unknown. In the introduction of the article, general information about the history books written in the field of Chagatai literature is given. It was identified that the work entitled"History of Islam" is part of this literature. Then, in the section entitled Description of the Work, detailed information about the work is provided. Next, the purpose of writing the "History of Islam", and the subject are explained which is followed by presentation of the chapter titles. The morphological and phonological features of the same work are examined with examples.
