Abstract:

There are many changes in daily, social and economic life in the information society. Digitization has been the most important driving force of the information society. Technologies that cause digitalization to increase its impact in every field can be expressed as internet, web 2.0 and 3.0 technologies and artificial intelligence. Metaverse technology has come to the fore more especially with the covid-19 pandemic period and different examples have emerged. The metaverse, which was announced and developed by social media sites in the first place, has also entered the field of interest of multinational companies operating in different sectors over time. Metaverse is a fictional universe and can be considered as the pinnacle of digitization. The most important point in Metaverse technology is the possibility of transporting many activities on earth to the virtual universe. Therefore, this simulation created attracts the attention of individuals and increases the investments of companies in the metaverse field. In this study, the connection of metaverse and digital capitalism was evaluated with descriptive analysis method through current examples. It has been concluded that companies especially carry and plan to carry the activities of individuals in daily life to the metaverse universe. However, it is seen that the investments made in metaverse technologies are quite high in terms of quantity. It is predicted that metaverse applications and examples will increase in the coming years and digital capitalism will rise further.
