Amaç: Bu çalışmada prostat kanseri şüphesi nedeniyle transrektal ultrasonografi kılavuzluğunda prostat iğne biyopsisi uygulanan hastaların, vücut kitle indekslerine göre kanser tespit edilme oranlarının karşılaştırılması amaçlanmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Retrospektif özellikteki bu çalışmaya serum PSA değeri 20 ng/ml altında olan ve prostat kanseri şüphesi nedeniyle TRUS-B uygulanan hastalar çalışmaya dahil edilmiştir. Hastaların yaş, boy, kilo, vücut kitle indeksi gibi demografik verilerinin yanı sıra serum PSA düzeyleri, prostat hacimleri, kanser tespit edilme oranları gibi klinik verileri incelenmiştir. Bulgular: Hastaların 78 tanesi grup-1 (VKİ<25 kg/m2), 114 tanesi grup-2 (VKİ:25-29.9 kg/m2) ve 33 tanesi grup-3 (VKİ≥30 kg/m2) olarak sınıflanmıştır. Gruplar kendi aralarında karşılaştırıldığında ortanca yaş, PSA ve prostat hacimleri benzerdi. Kanser tespit edilme oranları incelendiğinde VKİ 30 kg/m2 ve üzerinde olan hastalarda diğer gruplara göre daha fazla oranda prostat kanseri tespit edildiği görüldü. Sonuç: Obez hastalarda prostat kanserinin daha sık görüldüğü ve tanı koymak üzere PSA analizi için daha dikkatli olunması gerektiği düşünülmektedir.
Purpose: This study aims to compare the rates of cancer detection in patients who are administered by transrectal ultrasound biopsy due to suspicion of prostate cancer according to body mass index. In this study with retrospective characteristics patients with a serum PSA value below 20 ng/ml and who were administered TRUS-B due to suspicion of prostate cancer were included in the study. Demographic data of patients, such as age, size, weight, body mass index, as well as clinical data such as serum PSA levels, prostate volumes, cancer detection rates have been studied. Results: 78 of the patients were classified as group-1 (VKI<25 kg/m2), 114 of them group-2 (VKI:25-29.9 kg/m2) and 33 of them group-3 (VKI≥30 kg/m2). When the groups compared to each other, the average age, PSA and prostate volumes were similar. When the rates of cancer detection were studied, patients with HIV/kg/m2 and above were diagnosed with a higher rate of prostate cancer than other groups. The result: it is believed that prostate cancer is more common in obese patients and it is necessary to be more careful for PSA analysis to diagnose.
