Abstract:

The acceptance of the plans and activities prepared for sustainable rural tourism by the local people is called "social transportation capacity" and indicates the state and degree of tolerance of the local people from visiting the destination. Measurement of the capacity of social transport at certain intervals is of great importance in terms of determining the support of the local people in the development of tourism in the destination. Therefore, the purpose of the study is to determine the social transport capacity of Bodrum, which is mostly preferred by tourists, and to reveal the level of discomfort from the development of tourism within the framework of the Doxey discomfort index. In the field research, using the survey technique, face-to-face interviews were conducted with 365 participants. The data obtained from the talks were analyzed through the Structural Equality Modeling (YEM) and the relationships between the development stages of rural tourism were analyzed. The results of the analysis have determined that the Bodrum local population is at two separate levels in terms of social transportation capacity. Participants at the level of "excessively feel good" look positively on the development of tourism, while the local people at the level of "registerlessness" see the development of tourism in Bodrum as an option that is more compulsory than desired with the material return.
