Abstract:

This article is about a research of contrastive, political linguistics in the section of the semantic field nation. The first part of this paper highlights the meaning and the importance of discourse analysis (DA) which offers a methodological approach in the area of researching political speeches (and: inaugural speeches). At the same time it (DA) helps to connect the visions of language (linguistics) and politics. The result proves that linguistics, in the field of politics, may analyse verbal skills without any subjective judgement. This research enters its way into the semantic field of the term nation, which will be compared historically in between the inaugural speeches of the German chancellors and the Turkish prime ministers. The paper tries to offer a pragmatical approach for researching political speeches. This approach shows that similar terms (here: nation) can be used contrastively in their understanding in (political) languages and their rhetoric. Furthermore, it can be understood, the neologisms can occur while other terms in the semantic field may vanish.
