Abstract:

The state systems are examined in three different ways: federal, unitary and regional. There are many historical, cultural, social and political reasons for the state’s political systems to make differences. At the same time, all government systems share their duties and powers with local governments in their administrative bodies little or much. What determines what the limits of responsibilities and powers will be, is the democratic accumulation of the countries and the level of political culture. Turkey and Britain are united countries that are politically centralised. However, Britain is a much more localized state in terms of the transfer of duties and powers to local governments. This study examined the historic developments and types of local governments in the UK and Turkey. In this regard, the local governance system applied in Turkey and Britain (especially London) has been compared.
