Abstract:

The geopolitical position of Turkey, which is not rich in terms of hydrocarbon resources, between rich resource geographies and energy customers markets, offers opportunities for Turkey. The Turkish governments have for a long time declared the goal of turning the country into a "energy burst" with this real move. The steps taken in this direction since the 1990s have been strengthened by new and more comprehensive projects in the 2000s. The increasing importance of natural gas in hydrocarbon sources is due to the increase in demand for this type of source. Turkey’s total energy consumption and Europe’s energy consumption have been stable and significant in the past thirty years. This also highlights the importing issue of natural gas security for all states. Turkey has applied for ways such as to turn its advantage from its geopolitical position into a concrete outcome in the framework of this need; to be a stakeholder in the construction of new pipelines, to host some of these lines, to sign new natural gas treaties, to increase its storage capacity. They have also achieved successful results. In this regard, Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation have provided new cooperation opportunities, both its own supply security and a transit country has achieved positive results in the European supply security position. But the strategy of becoming an energy wrap is a more advanced and bigger goal. In the study, the background of this subject and the present situation are revealed, and a limited outcome is achieved towards the future.
