Abstract This article focuses the knowledge about children present in the contents of Psychology that were taught in the Normal School from 1911 to 1947 and in the Revista de Estudos Educacionales. The child has been mentioned in the Psychology contents since the first insertion of this discipline in the Santa Catarina teacher training courses in 1911 with the great teaching reform, the same happened in some selected articles of the Paper on screen and in a speech by Lourenço Filho dedicated to the Santa Catarina professorship. In the understanding that was disseminated in these programs and articles, the child was seen as a being in development, which went from immaturity to maturity, with the interference of education being important to adapt this being to the society of its time.
