Food is causally linked to child growth and development, so childhood is a period that needs a lot of attention when it comes to food, because this is where eating habits are being formed. Thus, the objective was to develop strategies to promote healthy eating with schoolchildren from the municipal network of the city of Picos-PiauÃ, in order to arouse interest and raise awareness among the school community of the importance of healthy eating. This was a descriptive, analytical, cross-sectional, and interventional study conducted with 186 students. Initially, a structured questionnaire (SQ) was applied to perform the situational diagnosis. The educational intervention was held for three weeks in two moments: the first, the explanation of the pyramid through a theatrical and dynamic presentation; and the second moment, the SQ was reapplied to evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention. The average age was 8.5 years, with a higher percentage of females (53.2%). As a situational diagnosis, it was observed that the students already had a previous knowledge about the theme that would be addressed and with the intervention, it can be observed that there was an improvement of this knowledge, and regarding the material used in the educational action, there was acceptance by the vast majority. With the accomplishment of the educational action it can be verified that the evaluated students already had a previous knowledge about the theme of healthy eating, as well as the educational intervention performed promoted an increase of this knowledge. In addition, doubts were raised about the daily nutritional recommendations aimed at the age group worked.
