Özet:

The fundamental objectives of the study are to examine the genre-forming criteria of the "pesenka" (song) genre and individual poems of B. Okudzhava related to this genre on the subject of correspondence with the criteria indicated by the authors. The article also provides a comprehensive comparative linguistic and stylistic analysis of Okudzhava's "Pesenka vesyologo soldata" (The Song of the Merry Soldier) and its seven English-language versions. The authors of the study come to the conclusion that, unlike the original itself, which meets all the criteria of the "pesenka" genre in full, the English-language versions of the source text have undergone significant changes in the course of translation, which has led to the loss of key genre-forming elements. The results of the study can be used for critical analysis and identification of adequate foreign language version of the lyrics of the genre under study.
