Abstract:

The main objective of this study is to study the multicultural perceptions of class teachers. The study also revealed the relationship between the multicultural qualification perceptions of classmates with the demographic characteristics and the multicultural personality characteristics. The participants of the study consisted of 407 class teachers in the central districts of Ankara. Multicultural Education Cultural Qualification Scale, Multicultural Personality Scale and Personal Information Forms are used in data collection. The data analysis found that classmates perceived themselves sufficiently in terms of multiculturality. The multicultural qualification perceptions of male class teachers have been found lower than female class teachers. The findings of the study also showed that the multi-cultural level of awareness decreased as the professional levels of class teachers increased. There has been a significant difference between the multicultural qualification perceptions of class teachers who see pre-graduate and undergraduate studies, but there has not been a significant difference between the multicultural qualification perceptions of class teachers who see undergraduate and undergraduate studies. It is the result that classmates with a high level of mother education have a higher multicultural level of awareness. However, the multicultural perceptions of class teachers have not been found to be related to the father’s educational status. In addition, positive meaningful relationships between the multicultural qualification perceptions of classmates and the multicultural personality characteristics have been identified. According to the findings obtained, there have been recommendations for multicultural education in future research and pre-service and in-service teacher training programs.
