INTRODUCTION: This descriptive study was conducted to determine mindfulness levels of nursing students. METHODS: The study sample consisted of 322 students who attended a public university faculty of health sciences continuing education in the nursing department from March 1 to May 1, 2017 and agreed to participate in the research. The data were collected by a questionnaire from the students with the Mindful Attention Awareness Scale and a form containing sociodemographic data prepared by the researcher. Frequency, percentage, t test, chi-square and Kruskal-Wallis test were used in the analysis of the data. RESULTS: Of the students who participated in the survey, 77,6% were female, 26,4% were 1st grade students and 86,3% were middle income. The region where 56.5% of the students live and 59.9% of them live the longest is the Aegean region. The mean age of the students was determined as 20.51±1.80 and the Mindful Attention Awareness Scale score average was 60.14±11.43. There was a statistically significant difference between average mindfulness scores of students when compared by their perceived income levels (KW=8,47, p lt;0,05). Students with moderate income were found to have higher mindfulness scores. There was a statistically significant difference between mindfulness scores of students when grouped by which region they lived the longest (KW=14,20, p lt;0,05). Students who spent most of their lives in the Black Sea region found to have higher level of mindfulness. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: It has been determined that nursing students are slightly above the level of mindful awareness. While there were no significant differences in mindfulness level with respect to age, sex, class and place of birth of the students; There were significant differences in the perceived income level and the region they lived the longest.
