Aim: The study was carried out to determine the perceived stress and the factors affecting the multiparam and primiparous pregnants. Material and Method: The study was descriptive and its universe consisted of 150 pregnant women who met criterion of unqualified random sampling, accepted to participate in the research and applied to the Policlinic of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Artvin State Hospital of Ministry of Health between November 2016 and April 2017. The "Pregnancy Information Form" and " Antenatal Percieved Stress Inventory " were used to collect the data. A priori power analysis was performed to determine the sample size. In the analysis of the data, the numbers, percentages, mean and mean values with minimum and maximum values, statistical Shapiro Wilk test, Cronbach α coefficient, Mann Whitney-U test, Kruskall Wallis analysis and Spearman correlation analysis tests were used in addition to standard deviations. Results: It was determined that the mean score of the total scores of the primiparous pregnants gained from "Antenatal Percieved Stress Inventory was 2.28 ± 0.90 and score of multiparous pregnants was 1.72 ± 0.48 and the difference was statistically significant. There was a significant relationship between the planning of pregnancy and family type in primiparous pregnants and the scale total score average. On the other hand, in multiparous pregnants a statistically significant relation was found between the spouse harmony, age, planned delivery method and total score average of the scale (p<0.05). Conclusion: It was determined that the perceived stress is higher in primipar pregnants than in multiparous pregnants. Many factors affect perceived stress during pregnancy. For this reason, it is recommended that pregnant women should be evaluated in terms of demographic, cultural and psychosocial aspects as well as obstetric evaluation and supported for multidisciplinary approach and care by healthcare professionals during prenatal period.
