Covid 19 pandemisi dünyayı toplumlar arasında fark gözetmeksizin tüm yaşam koşulları açısından etkilemesine rağmen çalışma hayatı açısından her sektörü aynı oranda etkilememiştir. Türkiye’de en fazla iş kazası ve meslek hastalığının yaşandığı sektörlerden biri olan madencilik sektörü diğer sektörlere göre bu süreçte hem çalışan işçilerin çalışma hem de sağlık koşullarının önemli ölçüde etkilendiği bir sektör olarak belirginlik göstermiştir. Çalışma ve sağlık koşulları bakımından büyük risk barındıran madencilik sektöründe neoliberal politikaların hayata geçirilmesi ile başlayan olumsuz koşullar Covid 19 pandemisi sürecinde de ivme kazanarak devam etmiştir. Çalışma, bu sektörde neoliberal politikalarla başlayan sürecin Covid 19 pandemisi sürecinde çalışma koşulları açısından geldiği noktayı Soma örneği üzerinden ortaya koymayı amaçlamıştır.
Although the Covid 19 pandemic has affected the world in terms of all living conditions without making any distinction between societies, it has not affected every sector at the same rate regarding working life. The mining sector, one of Turkey's sectors with the highest number of work accidents and occupational diseases, has become prominent as a sector where workers’ working and health conditions are affected significantly in this process compared to other sectors. The adverse conditions that started with the implementation neoliberal policies in the mining sector, which has great risks in working and health conditions, continued by gaining momentum during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study specifically aimed to reveal the point that the process that started with neoliberal policies in this sector has reached regarding working conditions during the Covid-19 pandemic through the example of Soma.
