At the beginning of the 16th century, the Ottoman central administration decided to strengthen the strongholds of the castles, which were the most important defense structures against the attacks of two great powers like Austria and Russia. In 1703, the restoration of the Bana Luka castle, one of the most important of these castles, began. The castle, as stated in the documents, is a structure of solid wood and filled with soil.
