Abstract:

Purpose: Denosumab is a humanized monoclonal antibody developed against the reactor activator of the nuclear factor cappa-beta ligand. The aim of the study is to evaluate the effectiveness of denosumab, a new-generation drug in the treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis (OP). The study included a total of 15 postmenopausal OP patients files between July and September 2020. The effect of denosumab on the bone mineral intensity (KMY) values was assessed by the total lombary spine, total back and femur neck T scores and g/cm2 values in pre-treatment and 12-month controls. Results: After one year of treatment, the total lombal spine, femur neck and total thumb T scores were significantly reduced and the total lombal spine and total thumb KMYs were significantly increased (p=0,006, p=0,041, p=0,016, p=0,002, p=0,001, respectively). After a year of treatment, no statistically meaningful improvement was observed in the PMI in the femur neck (p=0,053). At the end of a year, the total lombal spinal bone density increased by 17%, the total spinal bone density increased by 26% and the femur neck bone density increased by 12%. Result: OP is a worldwide common problem of the muscle skeletal system, and long-term, randomized comparative studies will contribute to literature, where more patients participate.
