XX. yüzyıldan günümüze Türk popüler müzik tarihinde farklı dönemlerde, farklı müzik türleri yer almıştır. Hiç şüphesiz bu dönemlerden biri de popüler olduğu dönemin adıyla anılan “90’lar Pop”tur. Günümüzde nostaljik bir tutumla çoğu dinleyicinin zihninde farklı bir yer tutan ve pek çok şarkı, solist ve müzisyeni müzik endüstrisine kazandıran “90’lar Pop”; 1980’li yıllarda revaçta olan arabesk müziği tahtından indirip, kendi yıldızlarını, mottolarını ve soundunu oluşturmuş modern bir müzik tarzını ifade etmektedir. Nitekim Türk kültür tarihinin en önemli kırılma yıllarından biri olan 1990’lı yıllar, hem ekonomik hem de sosyokültürel anlamda Türkiye’nin modernleşme sürecinde önemli bir dönemi de işaret etmektedir. 1991 yılında özel radyo ve televizyonların kurulması, cep telefonu ve internet kullanımının günlük yaşamımıza girmeye başladığı bu dönem, Türkiye’nin Batı tarzı müzik kültürüne de yakın olduğu dönemdir. Bu gelişmeler ışığında gelişen müzik endüstrisi ve teknolojileri bugün adına “90’lar Pop” dediğimiz sürecin oluşmasında büyük bir etkendir. Ancak günümüzde 90’lar Pop’ olarak adlandırdığımız ve pek çoğumuzun üzerinde neredeyse ‘kaliteli ve özel’ olduğu konusunda mutabık kaldığımız bu dönemi özel kılan ve dinleyicileri cezbeden esas unsurların ne olduğu tam anlaşılamamakta ve bu konu üzerine açıklayıcı bir yayın bulunmamaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, “90’lar Pop”u özel kılan anlam dünyasını ortaya çıkarmaktır. Söz konusu çalışma internet ortamındaki grup veya toplulukları araştırma amacı taşıyan netnografik yöntemle incelenmeye çalışılmıştır.
XX. In the history of Turkish popular music from the 19th century to the present, different types of music have taken place in different periods. Undoubtedly, one of these periods is the “90s Pop”, which is named after the period when it was popular. Today, “90s Pop”, which has a different place in the minds of most listeners with a nostalgic attitude and brought many songs, soloists and musicians to the music industry; It expresses a modern music style that dethroned arabesque music, which was popular in the 1980s, and created its own stars, mottos and sound. As a matter of fact, the 1990s, one of the most important breaking years in the history of Turkish culture, also marks an important period in Turkey's modernization process, both economically and socioculturally. The establishment of private radios and televisions in 1991, and the use of mobile phones and the internet began to enter our daily lives, the period when Turkey was also close to Western-style music culture. The music industry and technologies developed in the light of these developments are a major factor in the formation of the process we call “90s Pop” today. However, it is not clear what the main elements that make this period special and attract the listeners, which we call the 90s Pop, and on which most of us agree that it is almost 'quality and special', cannot be fully understood and there is no explanatory publication on this subject. The aim of this study is to reveal the world of meaning that makes “90s Pop” special. The aforementioned study has been tried to be examined with the netnographic method, which aims to research groups or communities on the internet.
