Doğum tarihi ve yeri bilinmeyen şair Sıddîk Ali Baba, 1828 senesinde Bursa’da vefat etmiştir. Kayıtlara göre, günümüzde herhangi bir binası kalmayan Bursa Mevlevihanesi’nin haziresinde, Şeyh Cünûnî Dede’nin kabri yakınlarında medfundur. Leylâ Hanım vefatı için bir tarih manzumesi yazmıştır. Sıddîk, Nakşibendî ve Mevlevi olduğu için “Baba” olarak anılmaktadır. Mesleği ve meşguliyetini bilmediğimiz şaire mahlasını Hoca Neş’et Efendi vermiştir. Elimizdeki tek eseri Dîvânçe’sidir. Bu eser İstanbul Üniversitesi Nadir Eserler Kütüphanesi T2863 numarada kayıtlıdır. Kaynaklarda ve kataloglarda Sıddîk mahlasını kullanan Meşrebzâde Mehmed Efendi’ye isnat edilmiştir. Bu yazma nüshadan hareketle hazırlanan yüksek lisans tezine göre Sıddîk’in 81 (5’i tarih şiirleri içinde) gazel, 29 tarih şiiri (22’si kıta, 5’i gazel, 2’si mısra) ve 2 müfredi bulunmaktadır. Divan şiirinde az kullanılan bir vezin olan müfâ‘aletün müfâ‘aletün müfâ‘aletün müfâ‘aletün kalıbıyla bir gazeli vardır. Hoca Neş’et ve Behcet Efendi’ye nazireleri olan Sıddîk’in bir naat-gazeli Leylâ Hanım tarafından tahmis edilmiştir. Mükerrer cinas örneği olarak yazdığı iki gazel hayli dikkat çekicidir. Şairin beş yerde şiirimizde az rastlanan bir şekilde beytin ilk mısraında kelimeleri bölerek ikinci mısraya taşıdığı görülmektedir. Sıddîk’in tarih manzumeleri içinde doğum-düğün-vefat hadiseleriyle ilgili olanlar bulunduğu gibi önemli hadiselere düşürülmüş tarihleri içerenler de vardır. 1223/1808-09 tarihinde Bursa’da çıkan bir yangın ile 1227/1812’de Bursa Ulu Cami’ye II. Mahmud’un bir hat levhasının asılması üzerine yazılan iki kıta bunlardandır.

The poet Siddeeq Ali Baba died in Bursa in 1828, but it is unknown when he was born and where he raised. Siddeq is called as “Baba” because he is Naqshi and Mawlawi. Khoca Nesh’et gave him penname Siddeeq. Only work of Siddeq is his Diwancha. This work is registered to Istanbul University Rare Works Library with the number T2863. Mistakenly this work is recorded on the name of Mashrabzaadah Mohammed whose penname is Siddeeq too. In Diwancha there are 81 (5 in poems of chronogram) ghazals, 29 poems of chronogram (22 qitas, 5 ghazals and 2 verses) and 2 couplets. One of the ghazals is written by using meter of mufâ‘aletun mufâ‘aletun mufâ‘aletun mufâ‘aletun which is used in classical Turkish poetry rarely. Siddeeq has nazeerahs and Leila Khanim wrote a tahmees poem by using one of his ghazals. The two gazelles he wrote as an example of a repetitive pun are quite remarkable. In five places in his poems, it is seen that he divides the words in the first line of the couplet and carries them to the second line, which is rarely encountered in our poetry. Among the poems of chronogram of Sıddîk, there are those related to birth-wedding-death events, as well as those that include dates of important events such as a fire that broke out in Bursa in 1223 / 1808-09 and hanging of a calligraphy table of Sultan Mahmoud II in Bursa Grand Mosque in 1227/1812.
