Abstract:

The aim of this study is to reach the information holes on the subject by examining the thematic distribution of graduate studies related to child abuse in Turkey between 1995-2017 years. For this purpose, 201 undergraduate studies, which are registered and permitted in the YÖK database, have been studied. The research is a quality research and the data is collected through the document examination technique. In the analysis of research data coded according to the type of studies, published according to the date, the type of research, the university conducting the research, the branch of the anatomy conducting the research, the type of abuse studied, the content of the research, the research model, the work group and the number, the data collection tools and the area where the research was carried out and the frequency (f) analysis technique was used. When 201 theses on child abuse were studied between 1995-2017 years; 119 theses were master's, 25 theses were doctor's, and 57 theses were specialized in medicine. 191 theses are written in Turkish, 10 theses are written in English. Studies on the subject have been conducted in many universities, and the University of Istanbul is ranked as the university that contributes most to the problem with 29 graduate studies. The most recognition studies (n; 192) are performed in the field, while prevention (n; 1) and scale adaptation (n; 1) are the least studied content. While 125 studies deal with child abuse as a whole, 53 studies have struck on sexual abuse and found it to be the most studied type of abuse. The work group is the most work done with children, while the second place is facts/documents/publications. In the course of the study, it has been shown that Istanbul is preferred as an area of application. With the study of the written theses in the field of child abuse, it is intended to reveal the status of graduate studies in this field and to keep light to other researchers who will work in this field.
