Abstract This paper presents an analysis of the latest work by Gabriela Liffschitz, where the argentinean artist poetically works out a breast cancer experience. Firstly, we will discuss how ilness is lived and understood as an “Event”, by following the theoretical background of this concept in authors such as Michel Foucault, Gilles Deleuze, Jacques Derrida or Alain Badiou. Secondly, we will explain how this position towards the Event of cancer will allow Liffschitz to build up a position of resistence against contemporary bio-medical and biopolitical apparatus. Finally, we will explain how it is through this position towards illness, that the author challenges the effect of individualization of such as apparatus and puts a way of “Being-in‐Common” which makes her life and illness more habitable.
