Abstract:

In this study, we discussed the glass roof that provides important information about social gender. The study examined the perception of the glass roof by the judges and the obstacles to the rise of the female judges to the top ranges. The study, in addition to demographic information as a data collection tool, developed by Karaca (2007) and consisted of seven sub-dimensions, used the "Women Managers Career Disadvantages Survey". The examples of the study (n=262) are made by basketball judges. In the evaluation of the data, along with the identifiable statistics, t-test and Anova analyses were made. The level of meaning is considered p<0,05. The results of the study have seen a decrease in the number of women basketball judges coming to the top rankings. In the study, judges think that women judges have their own personal preferences and perceptions as the most effective reason for their career obstacles. Later, the most they thought about was observed as a lack of mentoring in a career obstacle. The conclusion was that the barriers that they remain outside of informal communication, arising from the organization’s culture and policies, the barriers arising from the women’s multi-rol, the form of formalized preliminary trials and professional discrimination.
