The evaluation of the components related to health status is important to effectively interventions directed at public health. In this sense, the present study aims to assess the association between cardiorespiratory fitness and body composition of school-aged participants in the Midwest of Santa Catarina. The sample consisted of 1,291 students from the Midwest of Santa Catarina, aged 10-17 years. Weight, height, body mass index (BMI) and cardiorespiratory fitness (running / walking 6 minutes) were the variables measured. For data analysis, we used descriptive and inferential statistics, using the chi-square test with a significance level of 5%. The results showed that BMI of 76.9% of subjects were included in the Healthy Fitness Zone and 23.1% in the Health Risk Zone. For cardiorespiratory fitness, 61.4% of students did not reach the minimum criteria related to health. An association was found between BMI and inadequate low cardiorespiratory fitness.
