Huseyin Koycu was born in 1895 in Şenkaya district of the current Erzurum province, formerly Ortulu Village. Koycu, who received his first education from his father, later had improved himself. As of the period he lived, he witnessed both the last times of the Ottoman Empire and the establishment of the Republic. He has made important studies in the field of education as well as in the fields of political, social, cultural, economic, and health. The aim of this study is to examine the educational activities carried out by Huseyin Koycu during the Republic period in the region where he lived. The literature review of this research was conducted by examining the newspaper study, resource book research, use of internet resources, and related articles. With the establishment of the Republic, Koycu gave importance to the development of its region and the education of the people of the region. Activities in the field of education, the first school opened in Şenkaya, the first secondary school opened in Şenkaya, education of girls and Hüseyin Köycü were examined under the titles of the articles in the field of education in Şenkaya newspaper. Huseyin Koycu was a pioneer to keep the post-republic reforms and revolutions alive in the environment he lived in and led his village in order to enlighten society and increase the level of consciousness.
