Mehmet Akif Ersoy, dönemin şartları sebebiyle sanat anlayışında toplum faydasını esas alır. Söz konusu fayda, Akif’in sanatında şuur öncelikli bir temel prensip üzerinden hareket eder. Şuur, Akif’in hareket ve aksiyon öncelikli sanatkâr mizacının vazgeçilmez parçasıdır. Şuurun üstünde olan şair, bu şuuru toplumun emrine vermeye hazırdır. Cemiyeti tüm yönleriyle eserlerine taşıyan Akif’in şiiri yanlışlıkları, problemleri ve çözüm önerilerini barındırır. Çünkü Akif, yaşadığı devrin Osmanlı siyaseti bakımından devirler öncesinden çıkıp gelen sorunlarıyla baş başa kalır. Onun yaşadığı dönem tam da çoğu değerin silinmeye başladığı bir sürece denk gelir. Akif kendi medeniyet değerlerinin doğru İslâm inancıyla manevî yönden gelişeceğine inanır, maddî kalkınma için ise Batı’nın tekniğini ithal etmeyi önerir. Batı’yı çok iyi bilen bir aydın olarak onun ilerleme olgusuna ilişkin kanaatleri, hazır, sistemsiz ve suni bir batılılaşma programından farklıdır. Bu durum, modernleşme serüvenimizin tartışma konusu olmakla beraber bir zihniyet probleminin İslâm toplumu adına kaybolmak üzere olan kıymetleriyle de yakından ilgilidir. Bu bağlamda Mehmet Akif’in şuur üzerinde tutmaya çalıştığı şiir anlayışı da doğrudan toplumu sağaltmak isteyen bir anlayışın takip etmesi gereken zihniyet ve medeniyet koridorundan sapmadan tutarlı yürüyüşe denk gelişidir. Buna karşın Batı’nın sosyal yönden yıkım içerisinde olduğunu görerek kültürünü de Doğu toplumuna taşımak isteyen aydınları eleştirmekten geri durmaz. Haliyle Akif, kendi toprağının sesidir. Bu ses Batı kıymetleri karşısında kendini İslâm uygarlığında probleme dönüştürür. Başka bir deyişle Akif’in eleştiri odağındaki problemler kendi medeniyet çizgisinin sınırlarında tartışmaya açıktır. Batı düşüncesi uzantılı yıkıcılık, onun bir sanatkâr olarak içinde yer almadığı bir aydın bilincidir. İçinde yaşadığı cemiyetin geri kalmışlığını, yanlış İslâm anlayışına ve tembelliğe bağlayan Akif çalışmayı ve birlik beraberlik içerisinde olmayı eserlerinde çözüm olarak sunar. Bu çalışmada; şiir ve nesirlerinden istifade ile Akif’in Müslüman zihin faaliyetinin meseleler karşısındaki reaksiyonu mevzu edilmeye çalışılacaktır. İslâm uygarlığının tam duymaya ihtiyacı olduğu bir zaman diliminde Akif’in sesiyle yerinden sarsılması, sadece edebiyatın bir konusu değil; siyasî, sosyolojik ve kültürel açıdan tarihsel dünyamıza çarpan bir şuur şairinin feryadı ve yankısı durumundadır. Bu bağlamda mesajları da modern zamanlarda aynı problem alanına çekilen İslâm dünyasının ortak bir bilinci, kurucu bir hareket enerjisini Akif’le yeniden bulgulamanın ümitleriyle doludur.
Mehmet Akif Ersoy, due to the conditions of the period, is based on the benefit of society in the art understanding. This benefit moves on the basis of a basic principle of awareness priority in Akif's art. Awareness, Akif's movement and action is an indispensable part of the artistic humour priority. The poet is ready to give this order to the community. Akif’s poem, which carries the community with all aspects of its works, contains errors, problems and solutions suggestions. Because Akif is alone with the problems that came out before the Ottoman politics of the revolution in which he lived. The period in which he lives is exactly the time when most of the value begins to be deleted. Akif believes that his civilization values will evolve spiritually with the right Islamic belief, while for material development he suggests to import the technology of the West. As a clear man who knows the West very well, his predictions about the fact of progress are different from a ready, systematic and artificial program of westernization. This situation is closely related to the values of a mentality problem that is about to disappear in the name of the Islamic society, while being the subject of discussion of our modernization. In this context, the poem understanding that Mehmet Akif tries to keep on the consciousness is also equal to a consistent walk without deviation from the mentality and civilization corridor that a understanding that wants to provide the society directly must follow. Nevertheless, seeing that the West is socially destroyed, it does not stop criticizing the bright people who want to move their culture to the Eastern society. It is the voice of his own land. This voice turns itself into a problem in the Islamic civilization in the face of Western values. In other words, the problems in Akif’s criticism center are open to discussion within the limits of his own civilization line. The extended destructivity of the Western thought is a clear consciousness that he is not included in as an artist. Akif, who connects the retardation of the community in which he lives, with the wrong understanding of Islam and humility, offers work and unity as a solution in his works. In this study, we will try to legislate the reaction of Akif to the issues of the Muslim mind activity, with the assumption of his poems and generations. In a period of time in which the Islamic civilization needs to be fully heard, the voice of Akif is not just a subject of literature, but a poet of conscience, who is politically, sociologically and culturally touching our historical world. In this context, a common consciousness of the Islamic world, which has been drawn into the same problem area in modern times, is filled with hopes of re-finding a creative movement energy with Akif.
