For diabetic patients, diabetic foot ulcer is the most important reason for staying in the hospital for a long time. The risk of low extremities amputation in diabetics is 15-40 times more than nondiabetic population. Protective approach and treatment of diabetic foot ulcer decrease amputation rates and morbidity aproximately 50% and are also cost-effective. Diabetic foot management includes regulation blood glucose level, using apropriate shoes, foot and nail care, regular examination of foot and patient education on diabetic foot.
