The subjects of this study composed of the patients who admitted to our institution with the complaint of snoring, daytime sleepiness and concentration difficulties. Ali the patients underwent polysomnographic evaluation which resulted 23 of 48 patients had the diagnosis of sleep apnea. The data obtained from the polysomnographic evaluation of the nonapneic snorers and apneic patients were compared in terms of the effect of apnea and snoring on sleep quality. As a consequence of this study, the sleep quality of the patients with severe snoring have been found disturbed as similar to those with sleep apnea. Snoring leads to sleep fragmentation The insufficient 3rd and 4th period of sleep induced to daytime sleepiness, sleep fragmentitation and REM of the patients with sleep apnea syndrome and severe snoring.
