Abstract:

In 1768-1774 the Ottoman-Russian war was a blood that the Ottoman were about to lose their bridge skills as a result of the lack of war in the region of Tuna for 30 years. This study is intended to test this blood. The way to test this is in the second purpose of the study: the comprehensive demonstration of the floating bridging activities carried out by the Ottoman State during the war and beyond the Tuna River. These two objectives have been examined by the Ottoman chronicles and archive documents. As a result of the review, the Ottomans have assigned an authority called the bridge assurance to organize this work, and this authority has been conducting extensive activities to bring the bridge neighborhood of the near and remote surroundings with raw and raw materials and qualified and unqualified elements. The bridge construction was carried out in the rivers Dinyester, Prut and Oltu, beyond Isakçı, Silistre and Tutrakan on the Tuna. Although some faults in the bridgework activities and a lack of accumulation of knowledge about the first achieved engineering are observed, it is clear that the Ottomans in this period performed the floating bridgework activities at the expected level.
