Antik Yunan'da Oikos ve Kadın
2020

Abstract:

Oikos and Women in Ancient Greece
2020
Author:
Abstract:

The concept of oikos, which constitutes the lower unit of the ancient Greek society and has a comprehensive content, means family in the most general expression. But it has a very different structure from the definition of the family in the first mind. In ancient Greek society, oikos represents both their parents, their inheritance, and a house in a concrete way. Oikos is an institution where all the actions necessary for life find life, an institution with its socio-economic structure that satisfies its own needs and is not externally dependent. This is a difference between the functioning and continuation of the organization. The woman who is put to the second floor in this distinction and has the most important duty to give birth to the continuation of the oikos, has no right on her own oikos. Even today, the perception that the woman’s place is often “home” was literally rewarded in Ancient Greece, a patriot society, and the Greek woman had to spend her entire life within the oikos limits. The only thing that was expected from the Greek woman, which was kept away from the public and social space, was to be loyal to her master, to her husband and to Oikos. The good education of a woman, which was missing and passive in all respects, was one of the most important duties to her husband. The wealth of a man was married to what he taught to his wife.
