Abstract:

This study was done with the aim of determining which cultural objects related to domestic, foreign and universal culture are referred, taking into account the headlines/materials in the "Cultural Objects Detection Form" of the first 50 translated children's book. The model of the work is designed in visual quality. The data analysis technique is used. This study took into account children's books with a translation to pre-school and primary school students, which were sold on a book sale site. The first 50 best-selling translations of children’s books have been provided for review. The cultural objects identified in the review were classified under appropriate topics by coding. The findings of the study show that the children’s books translated contain more items related to foreign cultures than universal values, and that there is not enough space for items related to our local culture. It should be taken into account that painted children's books are an important tool in the cultural translation and teaching for children who encounter many books of quality/quality and model the lives, beliefs, thoughts and behaviors of the heroes in these books. In addition to many peritextual elements in the choice of books, cultural translation should also be taken into account. In particular, translation books should prefer books that transmit at least universal values instead of books that are dominated by foreign cultural objects.
