Relationship Between Learning Styles and Self-Directed Learning Readiness of Nursing Students and Affecting FactorsBackground: In the increasing academic achievement of nursing students are thought being effective of levels self-directed learning readiness well as learning styles. Objectives: From this point of view the study was conducted to determine the affecting factors and relationship between learning styles and self-directed learning readiness. Methods: The descriptive-correlational study was carried out on 411 students studying in a nursing department of a foundation university in Istanbul. A questionnaire form consisted of Personal Information Form, Kolb Learning Style Questionnaire and Self-Directed Learning Readiness Scale was used as data collection tool. Results: While the learning styles of the students were determined to be predominantly assimilator (28.2%) and converger (27.3%) learning styles, it was found significant difference between class levels and learning styles (p < 0.05). While The total average score of the SDRL scale was determined to 162.52 ± 26.63, it was found significant difference between class levels, age groups and SDRL mean scores (p < 0.05). There was no significant relationship between KLSQ and SDRL mean scores (r < 0.25, p > 0.05). Conclusion: The results of the study showed that there was no relationship between learners' learning styles and self-learning outcomes while students showed that learning styles were predominantly assimilator and converger learning styles. In the direction the results, it is thought be an important step of innovative learning methods such as simulation to be structured according to the learning styles of the students for raising qualified nurses
