Abstract:

This study was conducted with the aim of evaluating the participation of students in social activities and health-related behavior. The survey was applied to a total of 408 people, including 185 of the first class students and 223 of the sixth class students. The 22 question survey form, which includes personal computer, internet use, daily newspaper reading, cinema, concert and theatre, chess playing, knowing English, smoking and alcohol use, and health-related attitudes, is filled with the face-to-face conversation method. The rate of students having a private computer was 22.9%, the rate of knowing how to use the internet at a good level was 19.1%, the rate of having an e-mail address was 46.5%, the rate of daily newspaper reading was 51.7%, the rate of non-medical publication tracking was 39.7%. In the last 1 month, the rate of visitors to the cinema was 56.4%, the rate of visitors to the concert was 19.6%, the rate of visitors to the theater was 21.0%. 15.2 per cent of students know and play chess, 10.1 per cent know English at advanced level, 96.3 per cent believe English is necessary. The student’s smoking rate was 21.8%, the alcohol consumption rate was 32.4%, the regular breakfast rate was 34.3%, the hepatitis B vaccination rate was 30.6%, the regular exercise rate was 6.1%. As a result, it has been found that most students do not participate in social activities and mostly do not care about their own health.
