In the Province of Corrientes there is a a large wetland known as Esteros del Iberá. Due to the growing appreciation of its use, the provincial State has decided to exercise greater control over the territory with the idea of positioning it as a national and international tourist attraction. Thus, the Iberá Committee was created in 2016 and it now operates as an executive unit under the Ministry of Tourism. The aims of this article are to characterize the structure and functions of the Iberá Committee and to look into its dynamics, in order to propose some working guidelines. Methodologically, information was gathered with an ethnographic approach based on participant observation, interviews with key informants and consultation of official and journalistic documents. This Committee prepared an Iberá Strategic Plan that includes programs and projects carried out in the territory with significant economic investment. However, water being a relevant component of this territory, it is worthy of notice that the public institutions allow delays in the promotion of the Wetlands Law.
