Abstract:

Language teaching is not independent of literature. One of the prerequisites for the qualifying application of language activities at high school level is that the text used in the classes is appropriate and consistent with the age of the child, the cognitive and mental, the emotional world, the interests of the child, in short, the criteria of children's literature. For children, literature claims to be a child-specific, reflecting the child’s view, corresponding to the child’s reality and a child-specific literature. This study is aimed at studying the views of special talented children's readers on the work named Saklambaç in Boğaziçi of Mina Tansel according to the basic principles of children's literature. The basis of the study is based on the principles of relativity, child reality and identity in the context of the book’s content study. Mina Tansel, at first, next to "Saclambaç in Boğaziçi" and "Saclambaç with Istanbul" and "What will you be when you grow up?" It is one of the best-selling and popular children’s books. As a result of the scan of the field, no work was found about the writer's works. The research is of importance to present views from the eye of the child on one of the popular children's literature's favourite works. In this study, a semi-configured conversation technique has been used from the quality research methods. The questions asked to the participants are specified in advance and the questions are open. The research is limited to the data obtained from the 10 students who are ongoing to the Science and Arts Center and who are educated at the 4th grade in daily education and the questions asked in the interview. The research data was analyzed by an imagistic analysis approach. The data was collected in the first period of the 2019-2020 educational year. According to the findings of the study, students liked the exciting and interesting, curious parts and title of the book; they found the book attractive. Students have expressed that the book is a easily understood book, that it has contributed to the existence of the word, that the book gives messages about tolerance and wisdom, that the book raises curiosity in themselves, and that they want to read the other works of the author. Students who pointed out that this book has entered the areas of interest and they can recommend to their friends, stated that the event arrangement in the book did not end clearly, the event arrangement did not end according to the expectations, and they did not like the end of the work. Students have established identity with the heroes in the book, and they think that the events in the book are an example of wisdom, responsibility and tolerance. As a result, Mina Tansel's work named Saklambaç in Boğaziçi is in accordance with the basic principles of children's literature and children's readers can say they like the work.
