Abstract:

Burnout, which is a syndrome triggered by stress, is seen as a situation that can be experienced by individuals outside of business life, even students. In this study, burnout and individual instrument lesson burnout status of students studying in institutions that provide vocational music education at undergraduate level were examined. In the research, Maslack Burnout Inventory Student Form (MBI - SF) developed by Maslack and adapted to Turkish by Çapri, and Individual Instrument Lesson Burnout Scale (IILBS) developed by Girgin were used. The study group of the research consisted of 205 students studying in the departments of vocational music education in Ağrı İbrahim Çeçen, Van Yüzüncü Yıl, Kars Kafkas and Tunceli Munzur universities in the Eastern Anatolia region. According to the results obtained from MBI - SF; it has been observed that there is a significant difference in the mean scores of gender, individual instrument and instrument changing variables of conservatory students, and in the mean scores of the class and individual instrument variables of the students of the Music Education Department and the Faculty of Fine Arts. According to the data obtained from the IILBS; it has been observed that there is a significant difference between the gender and instrument change mean scores of the Faculty of Fine Arts students, and between the class individual instrument and achievement score averages of the Music Education department students. It has been determined that the average of exhaustion and depersonalization of the students of the music education department, and the average of the competence point of the conservatory students are high. It has been determined that there is a positive correlation between the mean scores of IILBS and the mean scores of the MBI – SF exhaustion and depersonalization subscales.
