Abstract:

Cotton is an important cultural plant that can be grown in certain regions of the world, both in terms of agriculture, industry and socioeconomics. Turkey is the sixth largest country in the world in cotton production. Antalya is one of the important cities in terms of cotton production in our country. One of the most important factors limiting cotton production is weeds. This study was carried out in the form of survey studies in 2020 in order to determine the weed species and their population status in the cotton cultivation areas of Antalya province. Observations were made in 55 fields in total in Aksu, Serik and Manavgat districts where cotton cultivation is intense. As a result of the observations, 24 weed species belonging to 12 families were determined. Among them, purple nutsedge (Cyperus rotundus L.), threelobe morning-glory (Ipomoea triloba L.), johnsongrass (Sorghum halepense (L.) Pers.), barnyardgrass (Echinochloa crus-galli (L.) P. Beauv.) and purslane (Portulaca oleraceae L.) are the prominent species.
