В статье предпринята попытка историографического анализа вопроса о роли Азербайджана в южнокавказской политике Российского государства в конце XVIII – нач. XIX вв. в ряде работ современных российских исследователей. Даётся всесторонняя оценка объективному подходу российских авторов к реализации захватнических планов России в Азербайджане в начале XIX в. как итогу активизации её внешней политики в южнокавказском регионе. В статье показана прослеживаемая в указанных работах преемственность и целенаправленность российской экспансионистской политики в отношении овладения Азербайджаном. Выясняется общность мнения авторов рассматриваемых работ о геостратегическим и экономическом положении Азербайджана как важнейшем политическом факторе в широкомасштабных замыслах России в южнокавказском регионе. На основе современной российской историографии раскрывается объективная позиция большинства исследователей в отношении доминанта её собственных интересов в регионе в целом, и в Азербайджане, в частности в политике Российского государства в конце XVIII – нач. XIX вв.
The article attempts to make a historiographical analysis on the issue of the role of Azerbaijan in the South Caucasian policy of the Russian state at the end of the 18th - early 19th centuries in a number of works by modern Russian researchers. A comprehensive assessment is given of the objective approach of Russian authors to the implementation of Russia’s aggressive plans in Azerbaijan at the beginning of the 19th century as a result of the intensification of its foreign policy in the South Caucasian region.The article shows the continuity and purposefulness of the Russian expansionist policy in relation to the mastery of Azerbaijan traced in these works. The common opinion of the authors of the works under consideration on the geostrategic and economic situation of Azerbaijan as the most important political factor in Russia’s large-scale plans in the South Caucasus region is being clarified. Based on modern Russian historiography the objective position of the majority of researchers regarding the dominant in the policy of Russia of its own interests in the region as a whole, and in Azerbaijan, in particular in the policy of the Russian state at the end of the 18th - early 19th centuries is elucidated.
