Abstract:

The fact that the chiropractic profession has not become widespread in our country yet is an important public health problem. It is important for physiotherapy students to be competent in chiropractic in solving the problem. In this study, it was aimed to examine the effect of chiropractic training seminar on the knowledge levels and attitudes of physiotherapy students about chiropractic. The research was carried out on 216 physiotherapy students who attended the 'Chiropractic Education Seminar'. Research can be defined as a single group experimental study. In order to evaluate students' knowledge and attitudes about chiropractic as well as their demographic data, data were collected before and after the training seminar with a questionnaire consisting of 9 questions. A total of 216 students, 40 female (18.5%) and 176 male (81.5%), were included in the study. It was determined that the majority of the students (41.2%) accessed information about chiropractic for the first time through social media. A significant difference was found between before and after the training seminar in questions 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 (p=0.000, p=0.000, p=0.000, p=0.016, p=0.032, p=0.023 ). It has been shown that the training seminar on the chiropractic profession, which does not yet have a bachelor's degree program in our country and whose legal basis has not been established, has positively changed the knowledge level and attitudes of physiotherapy students. It is thought that it is of great importance to conduct more training seminars on the 'chiropractic' profession and to raise awareness in the whole society.
