Bu makalede, daha çok esaretnâmesi ile tanınan Temeşvarlı Osman Ağa’nın hayatı ele alınmıştır. Osmanlı İmparatorluğu’nun Habsburg serhaddinde doğan ve büyüyen Osman Ağa, 1688’de esir düşmüş ve uzun seneler süren esaret hayatından 1699’da firar ederek kurtulmuştur. Karlofça Antlaşması’ndan sonra Temeşvar’da divan tercümanlığı yapan Osman Ağa, serhad diplomasisinde önemli roller almıştır. Temeşvar’ın kaybedilmesinden bir süre sonra İstanbul’a yerleşen Osman Ağa, burada Habsburg dil oğlanlarına Türkçe öğretmenin yanı sıra çok sayıda eser kaleme almıştır. Bu çalışmada Temeşvarlı Osman’ın bu eserlerine de kısaca değinilmiştir. Ayrıca Avusturya arşiv belgelerine dayanarak Temeşvarlı Osman Ağa’nın hayatının şimdiye kadar az bilinen bir dönemine ışık tutulmuştur
