Abstract:

In this study, Shakespeare's Richard III. In the play, the handling of the phenomenon of evil and the fictionalization of the character of Richard as the representative of evil were examined, and in this study, Richard's malevolent reign was evaluated through the Machiavellian ruler type. In Shakespeare's dramaturgy, which transforms Richard, who is a historical character, into a tragic anti-hero, the character's physical and intellectual changes are under the spotlight. Since his inborn physical deformations were not accepted and denied by the society he lived in, Richard cut his relationship with goodness and preferred evil. The political, ethical and dramatic reasons for the changes in the transformation of Richard into a play character by Shakespeare are emphasized. While Richard, who is a character who communicates directly with the audience of the play, expresses that he is a bad person at the beginning of the play and interacts with the audience through this feature, it is emphasized that Richard is a character that the audience can empathize despite his evilness. In addition to all these, the image world of the game was also discussed and how the images that evoked evil took place in the game, and the way the game portrays evil was emphasized.
