Abstract:

This study examined the thoughts of parents who sent their children to pre-school education institutions about pre-school education. In this regard, according to the parents, what pre-school education is, the reasons for the parents sending their children to pre-school education institutions, the satisfaction of the practices in pre-school education and the wishes and recommendations of the parents for pre-school education have been examined. The study included 7 women, 4 men and 11 wives. A semi-configured conversation with the participants consisted of 15 questions was carried out, the data was recorded with the audio recording device. According to the findings from the research, parents use expressions aimed at the concepts of development, skills, harmony and prepared existence while defining pre-school education. With regard to the reasons for the parents sending their children to the pre-school educational institutions, the goals of acquiring skills, supporting social life, supporting development and preparing for primary school have come to the forefront. The grandparents are pleased with the activities such as cinema-theater, co-interaction, responsibility activities, while the activities that require material partition and the media content that includes cultural differences have been as a negative view of pre-school education. When the requests of the parents were examined, it was seen that the parents had different requests and suggestions from the teacher, the educational environment, the support in financial matters and other students.
