Essential tremor associated with both the motor and non-motor symptoms, is the most common movement disorder in the world. Although it may be seen at any age, its incidence increases with age. Most of the patients with essential tremor are misdiagnosed and loose the cahnce of proper treatment. The pathophsiology of essential tremor has not been completely understood yet. To achieve more satisfactory theraupatic results, early diagnosis and proper treatment options should be provided for the suffering patients.In this review article, the epidemiology, pathogenesis, diagnosis, clinical characteristics, current medical and surgical treatment of essential tremor will be discussed.
